I am so grateful that you have taken the brave first steps to seeking and/or reconnecting to additional support and services at this time. It takes tremendous courage to embark on this journey. Please remember that you don’t have to do it alone, and that healing is possible. Although we cannot change the past, or remove all uncertainty from the future, one thing remains regardless of what has or will happen: You are worthy of respect, love, peace, and healing.
My "Why":
I am truly passionate about providing and advocating for greater access to holistic (mind-body-spirit-community connection) and trauma-informed approaches to behavioral healthcare because - they quite literally saved my life. I promised myself that if I ever made it to the other side of the overwhelming waves of trauma, depression and anxiety I was experiencing at the time, I would pay forward the kindness of all those who supported me by dedicating my own career to:
1) De-stigmatizing mental health care and reducing barriers to seeking/receiving help;
2) Holding space for others to nourish and reconnect to the felt sense of hope, safety, wholeness and fulfilling engagement in their own lives and relationships.
My Education and Experience:
M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, University of San Diego
B.A. in Psychology, San Diego State University
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (#9228), California Board of Behavioral Sciences
I specialize in working with individuals and groups of all ages who have experienced various forms of trauma and interpersonal violence/abuse. My clinical experience and training in providing psychotherapy, crisis intervention, prevention and early intervention (PEI), clinical case management, assessment and client advocacy services spans across all levels of care, including: early childhood and school-based settings; general outpatient (in-person and tele-health), intensive outpatient (IOP), partial hospitalization (PHP); residential, and acute inpatient psychiatric hospital settings.
Therapeutic Approach:
My therapeutic approach combines interpersonal neurobiology (attachment theory, polyvagal theory), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) with mind-body medicine practices such as clinical hypnotherapy, biofeedback, trauma-sensitive yoga, meditation, expressive arts, mindfulness and embodied compassion cultivation based exercises. I am also often accompanied by my ESA “co-therapists” (depending on client preference): Eva (dog) and Bentley (cat).
I look forward to the opportunity of collaborating with you to create an individualized support plan if you feel my approach and experience aligns with your goals.
Wishing you peace, courage and blessings,
Shane Padamada, MA
