Choosing to utilize insurance is a personal choice when receiving psychotherapy services. Some individuals choose not to utilize their insurance since some limited information from your sessions must be shared with insurance companies in order for services to be reimbursed and considered "medically necessary". It is important to note, that insurance companies limit and monitor the number of sessions a client is able to have, they dictate how a therapist is able to work with a client and require a medical diagnosis be made, which becomes a permanent part of your medical record. Ethically, we are unable to diagnose someone with a mental disorder, unless they actually meet the criteria. Most of our clients are not ill, therefore not deserving of such a label. Confidentiality is also weakened as they have access to your clinical notes and records upon demand.
Should you choose to utilize your insurance you should contact your insurance company prior to commencing services to be sure that services are covered and to obtain information regarding your deductible. As not everyone in the practice is on insurance panels, new clients must let us know if they plan to use insurance at the time of their initial contact, as we will need to call prior to your first session to confirm benefits. Although it is important to find a therapist that is able to accept your insurance, it is most important to find a therapist that is the right fit for you.
If you have an insurance that we do not accept, many people find that their insurance pays for a portion of their psychotherapy. If you have another insurance and are interested in using out of network benefits, itemized forms (Super-Bills) may be provided upon requests so that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please do your due diligence up front, as although the forms will be provided, you will be fully responsible for payment to Achieve Your True Potential at the time of service, as well as for pursing any reimbursement you may receive through your insurance company directly.
Questions to ask your insurance company prior to your first session:
-
Do I have mental health benefits?
-
Do I have a co-pay? If so, how much is it?
-
What is my deductible and has it been met?
-
How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
-
Does my plan cover an out of network provider?
-
Does my plan cover Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT)?
-
Does my plan cover Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC)?
Fees
We don’t want financial constraints to keep anyone from seeking services. This is why we offer a sliding scale and reduced-fee counseling. Individual counseling and couples counseling are both $150 per 45 min session and $180 per 55 min session. We don’t ask about income and use the honor system when it comes to setting a fee. Please contact us to discuss this further.
Reduced Fee Counseling
As we believe that quality counseling services should be available to everyone, our skilled therapists, offer a limited number of reduced fee counseling spots on their caseload. Please contact us to discuss this further.
Forms
All of our forms are electronic and we use a HIPAA compatible platform. If you choose to work with one of our therapists, we will invite you to our platform and send you electronic documents. All forms must be completed as soon as possible.
